An Epoxy zinc rich coating is a premium formulation containing a high percentage of pure zinc dust that works sacrificially when in direct contact with steel substrates. This process of zinc rich painting is commonly referred to by the misnomer cold galvanizing. Many global industrial companies employ these heavy-duty coatings to protect structural steel assets of any shape or scale.
To provide tailored protection across diverse environmental exposures, these systems are categorized into two primary technical classifications:
Inorganic Zinc Rich Primer
- Formulated with a significantly higher volume concentration of pure zinc particles.
- Engineered to be easier to apply uniformly under stable conditions.
- Most commonly applied within controlled shop environments for baseline component priming.
Organic Zinc Rich Primer
- Highly adaptable and normally applied on-site by brush or standard manual spray.
- Most commonly applied directly in the field for localized preservation and retrofits.
- Provides the exact same elite degree of barrier protection as inorganic variants when properly top-coated.
